Napa Valley Ballet offers classical ballet training for ages 3 to adult, which provides a gradual technical progression throughout the various stages of development, as well as a technical foundation for all forms of dance.
Pre-Ballet
(3-5 years) |
A gentle, creative development of dance introducing children to body awareness, body dynamics, stretches, directions and basic ballet movements with music. |
Ballet 1
(6+ years) |
Introduction to ballet class structure incorporating barre and centre work with basic classical ballet technique and vocabulary. |
Ballet 2 |
Awareness of ballet class structure and progression of basic classical ballet technique. Poise, balance, physical discipline, and short dances are learned. |
Ballet 3 |
Classical ballet technique is strengthened and developed, progressing toward more intermediate levels. |
Ballet 4/5 |
Dedication and commitment are required to develop a well-trained dancer. Ballet technique progresses to intermediate level work with pre- and beginning pointe work introduced upon recommendation of instructor and Artistic Director. The emphasis for pointe is strength and safety. |
Ballet 6/7 |
An advanced progression into the pre-professional level of training including pointe, variations, and character work. |
Teen/Adult Ballet |
A technique class for students seeking ballet to maintain flexibility, exercise, and the joy of movement. |
